Sphynx cats really are just like any other cat. Only way better! They need to be bathed about once a week, and need constant maintenance on their nails, ears and eyes. As far as health problems go… they are very healthy. The only main thing to keep an eye on (aside from a few blackheads) is HCM, which is a heart condition that is common to the breed where the walls of the heart thicken, shortening the life, and ultimately killing the cat without medication. Sphynx cats should be tested for this about every year or so, especially breeding cats. Just a thought, maybe it would be a good idea to have more info on your blog. I do love the pictures, but I think a lot of people “want one so bad!!” but they just don’t know too much about what it takes to have one of these wonderful cats. :)
I don't think Sphynx cats are known to have many health problems. They are just as healthy has any other cat as far as I know, or at least that's what I remember from my research before I got my Sphynx. When we first brought our baby home he had a cold (which was from the cattery and pretty normal for when they are babies) and then he broke his leg a few months after that, which of course is unrelated. Then the last thing that happened, we went away for a week and he was left with our roommate and it was the longest he had been away from us (and he was alone 90% of the time and used to sleep with us), and he got sick. We took him to the vet and they got some antibiotics in him and he was back to normal in day or so, but they said the stress from him being away from us for the first time was probably what triggered it. We haven't had any problems since then. Like I said, he's like any other cat healthwise.
